About this deal

Any hardcore Batman fan will have this book ruined for him the moment he witness the characters attitude and abuse. I love Dick Grayson so it is absolutely no surprise that I would love a book that delves into his personal journey as he figures things out post-Robin. While Nightwing first appeared in The New Teen Titans during The Judas Contract story arc, Nightwing: Year One showed why he became Nightwing, and that’s very nice. It's a really sweet read, if you need cheering up and love the batfam then this is the one for you, it's definitely worth picking up. I would recommend getting a physical copy if you can because it’s a great book, but it is very hard to find, but it's worth having in your graphic novel collection.

I also enjoyed it referencing the Teen Titans even though they’re not a big part of the story; it also referenced the comics and their accomplishments too. Nightwing: Year One isn't a perfect comic story (Batman isn't written particularly well, the terms "Boy Wonder" and "Man Wonder" are used often enough that they'd make a drinking game fatal, etc. In the stories from 1984, we see very little of Dick's thought process on why he chose his new identity. Unable to avoid fighting crime, Grayson begins a new odyssey, donning a new uniform and gaining a new heroic identity.Even Batgirl, who people usually get really excited over due to the rarity of appearances of original Barbara Gordon Batgirl, really brings nothing to this book, shes seems very bland is provides very little . Dick comes across well throughout the story his transition into his new identity is nicely played out and he gets some nice scenes with Batgirl. But honestly, it was so refreshing to see Grayson come into his own as Nightwing and about damn time. The awkward: Dick's origin and ongoing story have been twisted so much by reboots that if you try to cram this story into the various continuity retcons (New 52, Rebirth, et cetera) you are going to give yourself a headache. Given Wally's mentor, it's not a shocker he'd be so congenial, but given Dick's, his nice guy routine is more of a surprise.

Learn the legendary history of Dick Grayson and his life after Batman fired him, as he gains advice from Superman, aids Deadman, and makes the decisions that lead him to become a new crimefighter! In six issues, Chuck Dixon and Scott McDaniel not only fill in those gaps, but also address the larger part of Dick’s first year in his new identity, and for some, the fan favourite “disco suit”. His unprecedented 100-issue run on DC Comics , Robin is considered to be a classic in the comics medium. Dixon gets right up in Dick's headspace perfectly and illustrates perfectly all the stuff I just wrote above about why Nightwing is such a wonderful character.

With collaborator Chuck Dixon, Scott wrote BATGIRL YEAR ONE, named Best Miniseries of 2003 by WIZARD Magazine, as well as the bookending minis ROBIN YEAR ONE and NIGHTWING YEAR ONE.
