About this deal

Moving on to the album’s first single, “We Got the Moves,” this track is accompanied by a must-see music video, as the party has definitely started. and Enter Shikari, as both vocalists Kevin Ratajczak and Nico Sallach take turns to get you all hyped up for the next half hour and ensure that you’re definitely in the party mood.

Clocking in at ever so slightly over half an hour in its total length, it’s an album that flies by at breakneck speed, with no time for the listener to rest and catch their breath. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Parasite‘ keeps the rave cave phase alive with an intro that takes me back to listening to the likes of The Prodigy, Deadmau5 and Tiesto before opening up for the chorus with cleans and screams surrounded by bassy synth and background riffs.

Clearly Nico has had a very positive influence on the band and I can see them going from strength to strength in years to come. It illustrates how thin the line is between an album like Tekkno working, and barely being able to hold itself together. Right from the get-go on the album opener ‘Pump It’, we’re thrown into a track that is reminiscent of groups like Attack Attack! Metal is prevalent, featuring three breakdowns, one of which being in the first minute, while the fast choruses make it the ultimate EDM workout anthem. Putting a focus on the punky riffs, it opens with Nico’s clean vocal section drawing us in with his alluring performance and evolves into an unexpected love song about falling for a girl whose friends think you’re a, well, read the song title again!

One of the reasons for this is because the music video for this song went viral and the band became an overnight sensation due to its very light-hearted/comedic approach. During the worst of the pandemic, I remember the goofy humor of the “Hypa Hypa” music video lifting my spirits and I definitely wasn’t the only one. This is obviously half the point, and the band are clearly enjoying themselves (and, indeed, trolling those who don't dig it). The release of the group’s third single ‘Spaceman’, which has a feature from rapper/YouTuber/streamer FiNCH, was so popular among fans, that online petitions were actually created to have the group represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest, which, sadly, in the end, the jury later denied. After starting to get more recognition, particularly in the US, it was brought to their attention that the term "eskimo" is an offensive term to certain groups of people in Alaska. Yes, the critic hat unfortunately does have to come back on and the party has to stall, because for as entertaining as Tekkno is, that’s not enough to fully slide it outside the realm of issues that hold it back from much more.
