About this deal

On his train back to Scotland for a well-earned rest, Inspector Grant learns that a fellow passenger has been found dead. He is initially reluctant to take art in the scheme, but with Loding’s meticulous coaching – and his own uncanny resemblance to the late Patrick – he convinces the Ashbys that he is the real thing.

Miss Lucy Pym, expert psychologist, is flattered to be invited to lecture there - even if the Olympian splendour of the students leaves her feeling just a little inadequate.Later Brat is found to be an illegimate son of a wayward Ashby, and then he and Eleanor consumate the love they thought they couldn't share. If I were writing one of those annoying sales blurbs for Brat Farrar, I’d describe it as “ The Talented Mr. it is why i always took really extensive notes in lecture classes, and why i forget things people tell me allll the time. Alec remembers a great deal about the Ashbys, Latchetts and the village, which will allow him to coach Brat on all of the background details.

This sets Tey up to include lots of horsiness in the novel, just for its own sake and for the fun of show-jumping and racing. The only image I and many others may have of Lady Godiva is of a beautiful woman riding a fine horse across a landscape just like the character in the Tey book! It seems as if Brat is going to pull off this most incredible deception until old secrets emerge that jeopardize the imposter's plan and his life. What a revelation is Brat Farrar by Josephine Tey, a thoughtful mystery of assumed identity I didn’t want to put down. I found Brat Farrar a little predictable in parts but that's probably because I've watched so many crime dramas! very good - fine with two small, faint dings on front cover and tiny faint crease at upper right corner front cover.
